Default Bad Syncros on 2010 (5th & 6th)

So I just bought my 1st Wrangler a few weeks ago Absolutely love it! I'd looked for months and finally settled on a '10 Sport in Surf Blue. Bought it as a certified pre-owned from a local Jeep dealer here in the metro-Detroit area. I wish my 1st post was regarding a more positive topic..

After driving for about ~2-weeks I noticed that when shifting into both 5th and 6th that there is a slight grinding noise along with some resistance.. This noise & resistance occurs unless I'm able to rev-match nearly perfectly when shifting from 4 to 5 and from 5 to 6. Needless to say I couldn't believe that I was already having a trans problem only 2-weeks in and with only 25k miles on a "certified pre-owned" vehicle!

I dropped her off yesterday at the dealership and just got off the phone with one of the technicians who indicated the the 5th and 6th gear syncros are bad.. Luckily this is covered under the powertrain warranty and I should have it back in a week or so at no out-of-pocket cost but I can't help but be a bit concerned about the syncros going after only 25k miles..

I'm worried there may be an underlying problem that could have caused this. Perhaps something related to the master cylinder causing the clutch to not completely disengage and expedite the wearing of the syncros?

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else has any experience with this or a similar issue?

Thanks! Looking forward to contributing to the forum!

Unfortunately the manual trannys in the Jks are not the best product that has ever been made. I had a 2010 2 door sport 6 speed, and the tranny popped out of gear and didn't shift so smooth pretty soon after new. I dont think(or would worry) that their are any underlying problems, just the fact that unfortunately these dont have the best rep. If you have warranty I wouldn't worry to much, just make sure everything is in good working order before that warranty runs out.

This has been a major issue since the JK's first came out. After some time, most folks either upgraded the tranny or put in a auto
