Angry Auto Trans Problems HELP

Has this happened to anyone? Mine has stuck in second gear 4 times now. Been to the dealer and they reprogram it. Did it again this weekend while on a trip. When it does this if i completely turn off the jeep and remove the key, then restart it Most of the time it's fine after. One time it started slipping while i was taking it to the dealer for this problem.Goint to call my dealer again monday to take it in AGAIN. They look at me like i'm stupid but i've really had enough with this.Anyone else have this problem, please let me know your fix so i can tell the dealer.

I feel for you. I have a 1997 F350 Ford that sticks in 1st. Has stuck in 1st for 110,000 miles now. Back to the dealer for reprogramming, a new PCM, new transmission all to no avail. I just drive around in 1st gear at 75mph is the only fix. That's why I didn't buy another auto, and never will again.

You may want to take a look at your computer module. It's a flat aluminum plate, about 4"x10", and it has four electronic plugs going into it on the drivers side under the hood. Make sure that the plugs are in really snug. I had one that was just barely loose and it was stuck in second gear. Luckily I found it quickly or else I would have been freakin!. The reason I found it so fast is that I had just moved the box to get to another wire.

I'd bet good money your Jeep computer is throwing a tranny related code. If I remember correctly, the "limp in" mode takes over when the computer thinks you have a tranny problem and locks you into second gear. Good luck, and I feel your pain. The automatic tranny was the biggest mistake I made when I bought mine. I HATE the POS. Nothing but problems.

Make sure when you take the jeep in for service that the service advisor is not diagnosing the problem for the technician. Look at the repair order when you sign it and make sure it describes EXACTLY what the issue is you are dropping the jeep off for. If the advisor writes '' Reflash transmission '' the 2nd,3rd, and 4th times youv'e been in, you are spinning your wheels. Most service writers have NEVER been technicians, they are good on terminology and reassuring customers, and selling additional work. This does NOT mean they are passing an accurate description on to the tranny man about your problem. Does your dealership have a specialised transmission repairman? Is he ASE certified? Most new vehicle service repair work these days is done by following manufacterer flow charts for diagnosis. In other words if the transmission does this - perform this procedure. Problem still exists- perform this and so on till the end of the flow chart. This is why it is critical that you get your info to the technician clearly and completely. Hell I've worked at dealerships for 30 years and have had the technician drive my car home for a couple of days to let them see for themselves what the thing is doing. Don't be afraid to ask to speak to the technician about your problem, however if you are upset vent on the writer or service manager. The tech is on your side. Remember- what seems glaringly evident to you might not even catch another persons attention when looking at your vehicle because you are familiar with your car , they aren't. P.S. Try your other key for a few days.....

Default Lemon Law

I had an 06 rubi with a vibration. After new drivelines, t case, suspension, different tires/wheels and many other tries(LIthia in San Angelo was great!), they finally got the factory rep down. Arguing with him was like trying to teach a pig to sing...Wasts you time and the pig dont care. Filed Lemon law, month later I had retail credit toward any new chrysler product. Got a new 2 door in feb 07. just traded for an 08 unlimited.
Keep notes on all transaction/contact/meetings, what was said etc. pay the fees and turn em loose. They dont argue with the judge like they do the comsumer. If the judge files in your favor your a winner!
