No rust here...the beauty of So Cal weather...I may do this anyway.

 

I replaced the stock muffler and replaced it with a Flowmaster Delta 50, staying in the stock location. The muffler is barley visible there now, but the muffler shop guy sprayed the muffler and tail pipe black. It is his "trademark" thing. It looks good (what you can see of it.)

 

someone should paint it the color of there jeep... not just black

 

I bought the paint last week, but I am still nervous that I am going to get it everywhere. Did anyone else have this concern? any tips? or am I being a baby???

 

Did any of you sand the surface before you painted the muffler?

 

Just cleaned it.

 

I used 4XFix's relocation kit to move and replace my stock muffler... and then I took it over to Trabuco Canyon for a custom paint job:

 

I did the newspaper thing as well. It was a windy day.

 

Painted mine today after seeing this thread a while back, extreamly glad i did, looks great!

 

I would definately sand it before painting it if you have a little surface rust on it. After a long Michigan winter I had a little surface rust on the muffler. I sanded it, pressure washed it, sanded it again and wiped it down with a wet rag. I let it dry for a day and then painted it.

I also used newspaper around it to prevent overspray. It worked just fine.
