Anyone paint their muffler?

True, but it'll go away in a few days. I remember back in 1982 when I bought a new 1981 HD Sturgis how bad it smelled the first few hours it ran. For those of you not familiar with that model; just about eveything on it was painted black.
I bought some heat resistant flat black paint a couple of years ago for my Magnaflows on my Magnum. Somehow, I just couldn't bear to painted polished stainless steel. One of these days I'll get around to doing the Rubi's Flowmaster. Here's a before pic.

what's up with the muffler rusting so bad??..mine is aweful....and another thing..no offense 08 guys..but those bumpers gotta go..is that silver in the middle of them?....yuck..I thought mine were bad being pastic .....I guess I too have to either get a new muffler or paint the heck out of it
As for the muffler, I think it's poorly galvanized steel. Ours has 15K and heat discoloration at the tailpipe side just like post #25. Gotta do this soon.

I think I will do this as well. I have painted aftermarket exhaust with the BBQ paint it works great. Many miles on it and still going strong. I never thought to do it to stock exhaust...

Nice idea. I've had my JK for about a month, and the muffler is visibly starting to rust. I will attempt to remove the light rust and paint the muffler tomorrow (black), to prevent further rusting and to improve it's appearance.
I'm also disappointed with the number of other areas that show signs of rust...but they are metal...
