Default Anyone have PROOF?????

I'm about to do the 1st oil change. I've read all 5 million threads on the subject. Many of you claim that the JK comes with synthetic, or a synthetic blend from the factory. People on here say things like " I looked into it and.... bla ba bla", but never reveal their sources. I prefer to see the proof, rather than just believe what i'm being told. I just wanna stick with whatever the factory fill was. Sorry for yet another oil thread, just wanna know if anyone has the right answer AND their source of information. THANKS!

Your owner's manual tells you what kinda oil to put in the thing.

You won't get the proof here.

Some say synth. Some say dino.

Some have "switched" to synth. Some are using dino.

You want the factory fill? Take it to the dealer.

Otherwise, use what you want.

My dealer gave me a "free" 1st oil change. I asked what they put in it. The service manager said bulk 10w30. I indicated the Owners Manual indicated 5W-20 and then he said then maybe they put bulk 5W-20 in.

A lot of people have been getting 5W 30 from the dealers, which is no biggie, but I prefer to use the 5W 20. I'll ask mine what they're using next time I'm there.

From what I've read it's a synth blend, but I can't come up with any sources right now. I do seem to remember at my local auto parts store the entire (albiet limited) selection of 5W 20 oil was either blend, or full synth. Bottom line is you are safe to use either. You could always call you local dealer and maybe they can tell you exactly what they use, but as I mentioned above some of them aren't even using the 5W 20. FWIW.

RED9BULL,

I get your point, but it's up to you to find the proof. That's the nature of forums. There will be lots of statements made, backed up by good sounding justifications. YOU have to read and verify for yourself.
