Alright, so I tore the rear diff apart and replaced the clutch packs. I didn't take any measurements because I didn't want gear lube on my calipers, but the old clutch packs were noticeably thinner. With the new packs installed the wheels do rotate in the same direction with the jeep in neutral and the wheels off the ground. I hope this helps someone in the future.

i think i have this same situation going on with two different JK wranglers with factory LSDs that when jacked up the rear both wheels, all gears in neutral, spin in opposite directions and these wranglers are at 35k miles no off-road no 4wd use so that's crappy if the clutch packs are toasted already but your post really seemed to help get us the info we need. prob going to replace these crappy factory clutch LSD with a gear based LSD. we are not replacing clutch packs every 30k miles, that's terrible.

how long did it take to replace the clutch packs as we have never pulled out a LSD and taken it apart. did it take any special tools? did you get only the clutch plates from the jeep dealer and no other parts and if so how much did they cost?

but your post really helped as we faced the same situation which is strange with such low miles and no off-road use.
