Noob here, so please bear with me. Without going through all 35 pages of this thread, can someone please tell me if this has been fixed on the 08's?
Test drove an 07 JK Manual (dealer let me drive a used one so I can decide between manual and auto) and about 5 minutes into the ride, right when she was at a good operating temp the car sputtered and shut down. Sales person panicked and asked what had happened and thought that I somehow turned the car off in mid roll.
Was going about 40mph, was in the process of downshifting to 4th to exit the highway.
dealer still thinks it was user error, but there's no way I shut it down intentionally. Have been driving manual for well over 20 years with hundreds of hours behind the wheel of a box truck.
Starting to wonder if I really want this truck or not now.

I'm waiting for this thread to close and after a big, hue-mungus "They fixed it Party!" before I go back to the dealer. ("Buy Back" club member)
I still feel the loss when I see that bad boy on the road... but knowing it's only purdy' on the outside helps.

didnt stall but scary as hell
driving about 40 mph, dash lit up like a roman candle for 1 sec than back to normal...no complete 'stall' but wierd.
seems like this problem is becoming very common...not good for DC.

Well... Back Again....2008 STALL!!!!
WELL... I am back on the stall bug wagon.... DAMN IT!!!!!!
my 07 X was replaced (after months of hell - read other posts) 2 months ago with an 08 sahara - now 2K miles in the 08 stalled this morning in rush hour traffic, and would not start back. alittle blue smoke came from under the hood, and it smelled like burnt plastic. everything worked but the starter wouldn't turn over, it would just make a grinding sound for a second and stop ....
that was it - DEAD - right in the middle of the street.... at the dealership now.... DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!! my WJ's are bullet proof got 115K miles on the 00... NO problems...
this new JK BULLSH!T is getting old!!!!

It happened once in my 08. Wife was doing a u-turn when it stalled. She said it took about a minute before it would re-crank. This happened with about 2500 miles on the clock. Only time so far.
