Yes, that's the steering clunk problem __ it seems to get worse as the miles increase.

Just as I suspected they could not find anything wrong .... will try tomorrow in a different dealer ... What gets me mad its that I Printed the whole thread and explain to him what the problem was and I am sure he did nothing to communicate that to the mechanic . I even asked him if he or the manager could ride with me so he could feel what I am feeling every day an its driving crazy the manager was unavailable. ooooohhhhgreeat...

Have anybody been lucky trying a heat guard on the knuckle thats very close to the manifold ??

also has anybody that repaired the shaft by the dealer had the problem again??

thanks for your help ...

That's some BS...I was very forward about having the service manager "drive" my Jeep while I rode along. I would definitely take it to another service dept! Did you buy the Jeep where you just tried to have it serviced? If so get your sales person involved...especially if you haven't filled out the good ole survey yet. I haven't had any issues since having mine replaced.

I will go again tomorrow to the dealer and demand to speak to the manager if not I leave the jeep there and buy it some where else .. I did get a good price and a decent price for my trade in but that rattle is driving me crazy I do love the jeep but man

Aw hell no...if you haven't even signed yet I would demand they either fix it or give you another one. Don't put up with that BS! It's apparent their service sucks and the ink on the line hasn't even been signed. I guarantee if you start talking about going elsewhere amazing things will happen and they will take care of you. Hell, I have my saleman's home phone/cell on my speed dial. He has received calls from me more than a few times, lol. These dealerships absolutely kill me on how they treat customers. They wonder why most people dislike them!

Default Found the problem!

Look at tyhe attached picture of the steering column where it passes through the firewall. I have the same clunking feel in the steering wheel.
I have lost a part or something has moved forward or fell. The steering column moves around in the hole that passes the column throught the fire wall. It has about a 1/4" of play. This is my problem and it might be yours too.

Those are exactly what I had replaced, both upper and lower shafts due to the excessive play/pop/clunk noises.
