Hey, the economy is bad. Chrysler's practically in the toilet. Color me "unsurprised."

Default Steering clunk

Wife started saying she was getting a clunk in the steering wheel. I have not felt it but she said it started a few weeks ago, 40,000 miles. I'll try the fixes posted and see how it goes.

THanks for all the information.

Felt it in the steering and pedal after the engine would get hot, when turning and over bumps... drove it for two years like that.

Finally brought it to the dealer today- they immediately diagnosed the "Intermediate Shaft" as the culprit.

They replaced the shaft under warranty. I then drove it for 30mins- everything seems fine. No clunk, no weird feeling in the pedal- steering feels tighter.

my 09 started doing this about a week after i bought it. i thought it was normal operation, even though i never noticed it after i originally drove it off the lot. i guess i should probably take it into the dealer. i only have 2000 miles on my jeep.

good thing i logged on tonight and saw this.

Yup, noticed this in my 07 Sahara Unlimited. Good to know the cause is now known and it isn't a catastrophe waiting to happen! Love this forum!

Add my 08 to the list of clunkers

I've more or less taken the entire front end apart looking for the route cause (which I've never found yet) and everytime I put it back together it's gone for the 1st couple of weeks, then it seems over night it just comes back..
