Default Air Conditioner Smell?

Ok, so I picked mine up on the 27th. Turn on the AC and there was kind of a smell, but I figured "meh new smell, it will go away" Well by the time the weekend came about it was so bad the the wife would gag if I turned on the vents. (AC,HEAT didnt matter)
So I brought it in to get it checked out. Turns out the 06's had the same problem. The coil condenses but doesnt drain so the water builds up and goes rancid ( I was kind of happy as I had thought something died in there LOL). There is a TSB from last year that addresses it. The mechanic didnt apply the TSB for me, instead he ran some smelly stuff through my heater box. It kind of fixed it, but I am already noticing the smell again, so I think I am going to get him to apply the TSB. If anyone is experiencing this PM me and I will send you the TSB number as it is out in the parking lot here at work.\Cheers

Something I do a couple times a year, turn your a/c on high, spay lysol into the intake outside the vehicle. It will go though your a/c system and kill most of the germs and proved a good smell. Give it a heavy does. Works great.

I worked at a car dealership years ago and was welcomed to all the wonderful different smells that people added to their rides. If you have to go with a spray I would recommend Fabreeze over most. Lysol at the very bottom of that list. The coolest and most refreshing that I've smelled was someone sprayed their favorite cologne/perfume on a paper towel and stuffed it in(or near) the A/C's intake. The sent doesn't last all that long though. You have to renew it once a week or so. Also a great smelling dryer sheet (believe it or not). The dryer sheet near the intake duct trick is probably the longest lasting of all good smelling tricks I've seen. And anymore there are so many great new smells from those things.

Im having the exact same smell, it only seems to be on a cold start when the car sits for an extended period of time (8 or so hours). Smell seems to go away after 10-15 seconds though. I am taking it in Friday to have the dealership look at it as well as the "crunchy" shifting for 1-2 and 3-4 shifts..

That's exactly what I was talking about. The smell happens when turned on for the first time after sitting overnight, then it dissapears. Please, let me know what the dealership says when you take yours in. I'd like to know if I can fix this without stuffing "drier sheets" down the intake or spraying frebreeze. Just one of those things that make you mad after paying almost 30 g's for a vehicle. I know i'ts a Jeep but, DAMN!

Sorry for not posting sooner, got the car back last Friday. They ran that de-mold junk through the system. It was fine all weekend then monday morning, started it up and the smell was back, car is going back to the dealership on Friday.

On a side note they said they didnt discover anything wrong with my shifter (makes a crunchy sound - like its hitting something plastic - when you shift from 1-2 and 3-4) and the black plastic piece that holds in the rear window bar on drivers side was replaced but still pops off all by itself. So, so far they have not fixed 1 thing wrong with my vehicle.

FOLLOW UP: Dropped off my Jeep last night to have them look at the mold smell again. They called me this afternoon and told me the coil condenser had mold buildup and needed to be replaced. They are replacing it tomorrow, hope this helps anyone else that might be having the same problem!
