Will a P255/75R17 tire fit a Pro Comp 17x9 rim?

I've got 285/70R17 Dura Tracs running on Black Rock 909s 17X8. It seems to work well. Don't know why 17X9 4.75 BS wouldn't work with 255/75R17.
