Not that I know of... an auto tranny is an auto tranny.

Yup 2012 with fact trans cooker. And I'm aware of 4lo to keep the temps down, I always wheel in 4 lo. Just never came face to face with how simple of a dirt road with an incline could do this. I had been in 4 lo for a while before the 7 sec shifting thing happened. Hmm. This is lame. Is everyone agreeing that these issues were the result of an overheated tranny?

I think those are two very different issues.

And while a good point about flammability, I'm not sure it's as bad as one would believe based upon that statement.
Momentary loss of drive under torque. Then later 7 seconds for reverse to engage after I shifted. Snow bashing during that.

With the transmission being controlled by the engine computer, it could be a sensor glitch under a particular condition. You can always ask the dealer if they could possibly get a history from the computer.

Just a thought...

I like the non invasive approach. I have a feeling they will look at me like I have 2 heads but ill give it a shot.

It's not the first time it's acted up.

Good luck. One day, I my trade mine in for a newer one, if Jeep doesn't go do something stupid and make it like a Cherokee. Definitely interested in the outcome.

Slippage is a symptom of low fluid. Since you checked... it was full (cold), it wasn't brown nor did it smell burnt, nor did you say a "hot oil" message came up. I'd say you aren't overheating.

My gut tells me I'm not overheating, and it's more of a communication/electronic issue.

This happened to me once, toward the end of about 12 miles of rock crawling on an 80 degree day. Fluid is good, linkage good, electronics are good. I think it was a temp issue as well. Didn't happen when I did the same trail when it was 40 degrees.
