Default 2013 JK ticking after crash

Well, I lost control on a dirt road the other day and hit a tree. I was only going about 10 mph by the time I hit it so it could be worse I guess. It crushed the driver side frame horn about 2 inches and the subframe is bent to the passenger side about an inch. The collision shop here said the repair kit for the frame is $1100 just in parts. But now it's making a ticking sound under acceleration and deceleration. It almost sounds like a hissing sound, but nothings dripping and the fluid levels haven't seemed to drop. It didn't do this before and I just got back from driving all the way from Beaufort, SC to Akron, OH and back for Christmas. It only has about 15k on it too. Bent the drag link, too.

I took a video with my GoPro, you can hear it more when I start to drive.

Has anyone heard something like this or know what it might be?

Could be a cracked exhaust manifold, used to be a frequent problem on 3.8L's but the trauma from the hit could have cracked one of yours. That's what it sounds like anyway.

Maybe. I has hoping it wasn't something serious. I guess I'll take it to the dealer after I get the frame fixed.

Looks like you weren't too far off with that, I found where the cat converter made contact with the engine mount. I guess it's better than the exhaust manifold because the pentastar's head is part of the manifold. Do you think I could weld a bead over that to plug the hole? I don't have much experience with exhaust. I doubt this would fall under warranty.

If you're careful, yes. Just don't burn a bigger hole in the process.

The insurance will take care of all of it. Don't worry about the warranty.

It was on base though in an area you're not technically supposed to drive, (going too fast too), so if I went through insurance I'd have to put a report in with the MPs and then I'd just be digging a bigger hole from there. I just have to find someone with a decent welder and I'll be able to plug it no problem. I just got to practice a little first. I haven't touched a welder in a couple years. I'm just waiting for the body shop to tell me how much it's gonna be to fix the frame. It's a new Marine Corps, they try to screw you over any way they can.

I would look at welding a small plate over the hole rather than plugging with a bead.

I was thinking that too. It's about the size of half a dime.
