Default 2012 JKU automatic transmission service?

Has anyone had experience with replacement of their transmission fluid and filter? Namely removal of the pan. The cross over exhaust pipe seems to be in the way preventing me to fully remove the pan to replace the filter. Any thoughts?

I usually just have the transmission flushed out. My last truck had the original filter and it was spotless at the 90k service which was the 3rd one. These Snap On machines do a great job and remove all the fluid unlike a drain and fill type service. I could watch the machine push all the old fluid out and install the new until it was perfectly clean.

I was looking to drain my fluid out, replace the filter and put AMSOIL transmission fluid in.

I've had to replace my trans oil a bunch of time on my 09 as the oil kept burning. All you need to get to the bolts near the exhaust out is a wobble head extension, with that you'll be able to angle the socket enough to remove the bolt and drop the pan. The filter just unscrews and the new one snaps in. I suck at applying rtv sealant so the oil always weeps out a little. You can get a lubelocker gasket to make it easier. Also do not over tighten! I snapped on of the bolts by torquing it too much

AMSOIL isn't on the list of licensed makers of ATF+4. That may not be good for your transmission, and certainly not good for your warranty.

I know what it says on their site, but that doesn't mean anything since it's not on the list of licensed ATF+4 brands. Your manual says use ATF+4, or equivalent licensed ATF+4 brand.

The following quote is in the AMSOIL warranty, which indicates they are not responsible if you don't strictly follow the OEM recommendations. (Is this their way out of the warranty?)

"The Consumer is solely responsible for determining a product’s merchantability or fitness (“suitability”) for a particular purpose and assumes all risks and liabilities when used other than in strict accordance with
either the written recommendations of AMSOIL or the OEM for warranty coverage."

People will use anything they want. I'm only trying to bring your attention to the fine print so you and other readers can make a decision with as much information as possible.

Has anyone done a transmission pan drop with filter change to a 2012 automatic? Can't find alot of info on 2012+ and I just want to make sure there isn't anything special for it like special tools or measuring of temperature for fluid level, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 2012 and higher is not supposed to be serviced

It was their new design for a non-serviceable transmission which is why it's almost impossible to find a fill stick under the engine cover

That was what I was told too by our mod friendly dealer. Just flush out and refill the trans oil, no filter change.
