Considering most people will never do any of the calculations or measurements, most people would rather be safe then sorry.

I picked up a 80 watt cigarette lighter socket inverter from harbor freight for about $10. It works great for my laptop.

I wasn't trying to explain the formulas, which is why I didn't provide them. Rather, I was explaining that what was represented as the science was, in fact, not correct. If you don't get it, don't worry. The worst that will happen is you'll spend too much money on a product that's over-powered. If you completely ignore even the most rudimentary calculations (the improper ones), then you may blow a fuse. Unless you don't have one. Then the worst that can occur is a fire. Hey, it's your Jeep.

This is what I was getting at. Just this simple formula shows that a 2000 watt inverter is only capable of 16 amps in a perfect world. That won't even start a medium sized vacuum cleaner. Just be careful what you hook up. For what your initial application was going to be, the TV, I will tell you I ran a powerpack battery/3000 watt inverter combo during Ike, and it ran my 42" DLP projection screen and cable box, so you should be fine. I don't know what an LCD draws, but it has to be less than the dlp with the color wheel motor spinning. You might consider an LED instead of an LCD. While I still don't have the exact numbers, I would bet it draws even less. Good luck.

Hello!

I live in Chile and i have a 2011 Rubicon Unlimited.

Here it cames without the Power Inverter.

Anyone can post detailed Pics of the inverter output in the dash?
There is a "Mopar Kit" or i can buy separated parts to do the upgrade on my jeep?

Thanks

Mariano

Here you go. The plug is mounted on the center console (pic 1). There is a switch on the dash that turns power on to the plug (pic 2). I guess the inverter itself is behind the dash somewhere. I haven't seen it.
