Question 2008 jk with tow package towing?

Can I tow A 2006 honda civic 4 door from Florida to North Carolina? I have a stock 2008 4 door with tow package which states class 2 towing. Can I tow it on a trailer? I can't figure out the weights of both vehicles for towing but a Honda civic is not that heavy right? What should I do, ask the Jeep Dealer? Any Help? Thanx (The honda civic can't weigh 3800 lbs can it?)

4 door jk sahara with tow pkg. & 3.73 gears has a max towing capacity of 3500 lbs.

so... guess that the civic weighs 2690lbs. (EDIT: Intellichoice says the 4dr has a Curb Weight 2,690 lb)
The trailer weighs 1000lbs...

pretty close to max.

Do you have a 6 speed?

That'll help. If not, prepare to push the little OD button

btw... read your owners manual

I would eliminate the Trailer. Just tow it behind you with a Tow Bar. Actually - unless you own a trailer, U- Haul will not Rent you one with a JK. Hard Top or Soft Top. Believe me - i know. I ended up buying a Trailer. You could Rent the type of trailer that only keeps your Front wheels attached . But not from U-Haul. Try Ryder.

Not Yet! I was thinking to do the rear ground tow but the civic manual says not to tow more than 35 mph or too long a distance! I'm moving up to N.C. And I want my girl in the jeep with me not following along her civic!

Regardless of the weight being close to max or not, you don't actually tow in Over Drive, do you?

I tow an 18' ski boat with my unlimited. It's right at the max 3500 lbs, probably a bit over with full tank and gear. Lots of short trips to the lake, several 8-10 hour drives. No problems so far.

But I'm not in OD cruising at 85 either...

Just be conscious of the weight you're towing, and try to stop a few times to let the tranny and axles cool down. I'd also suggest throwing a tranny cooler on. They're cheap and there are several install write-ups on this site.
