Thanks for the input guys! I really want to drive another 6 speed 07 and see if it is the same. Maybe I will post a video of it later.
If the Flashpack will absolutely do away with this, it would be worth the money. Any MPG increase/decrease with it?

I have an 07 Sahara and it does this too. The rpms just take forever to go down, and I've had it for about a month maybe 2 and it has popped out of first a few times on me as well.

Good to know. Yeah the 1st gear pop out scares the crap out of me. I recently did a lot of city driving and it didnt do it once. Its so random.
I would love to be able to reduce or get rid of the rev hang, it makes typical driving very frustrating as the 1-2 shift takes about 5 seconds.

I believe this throttle "hang" is emissions related. When accelerating, and then closing the throttle completely between shift, emissions shoot way up because of the lack of air, keeping the mixture from burning completely. The slower throttle closing allows this to happen more gradually. Older cars had a dashpot, which kept cabled throttles from closing too quickly.

Same here, 08 and wife hates when this happens.. But I've learn just to make sure I don't throttle it so high when shifting gears.. and actually holding the shift in first for a bit till and I ready for second.. IN other words, watch out for those quick take offs.. High revs and pop outs..

I've learned that before every time I take off I put the shifter into second then first before I let go of the clutch and take off, and it has helped minimize the issue with it popping out of first violently like I was experiencing.
