Default 17 Hardtop on 07 JKU - rear window seal Q

I bought a used 2017 hardtop to go my 2007, I noticed that I the seal between the rear glass and the tailgate doesn't look like it is making enough contact. Furthermore, I can stick my finger in and lift up the window a bit before it makes contact with the spare tire. I'm wondering if I'm missing a piece either on the bottom of the lift gate glass or on top of the tailgate to either secure the glass or seal it better?

Any thoughts?

In all seriousness, a couple pics will help. Something sounds amiss. You definitely should not be able to stick your finger in there and lift the glass up. The rest of the top sits properly on the cargo rails and you bolt it down just fine?

Will try to get and post pics later when I'm home. From my research and looking at a fiends JK here at work (mine is at home) I think the plastic channel that sits behind the rubber gasket is either broken or missing. Will let you know.

Been a while since I had the hardtop on mine, but if I remember, you closed the glass, then the tailgate. The tailgate actually held the glass shut. If you have a gap that you can fit a finger in and lift the glass, you're probably missing the gasket/bar on the lower part of the window.

You think it is this that you are missing?

If so, would suck to have to buy that, but I guess on the bright side at least a piece you can buy. I wonder if someone had to have that rear glass replaced, and that piece got left off in the process. What stinks is I would think a seller flat out knew that was missing and sold it as/is anyhow.

The rubber seal is there but I think the plastic isnt. In retrospect he for sure knew that he broke it off because after we put the top on he was very quick to close the tailgate himself and get me on my way.

There does seem to be a different rubber seal for 07-10 vs later and I'm not sure what the difference is, either way I definitely think I'm missing the plastic. Will check at home

Yup the plastic piece was broken, that's why the window wasn't secured
