I am not sure I can believe that your Jeep is faster after an oil change. That really is an extreme jump to make. A heavier oil offers more protection. A light weight oil is usually what will allow an engine to produce more power and economy but at the sacrifice of less protection.

There were many variations of pcv systems over the years. What do you have in mind?

Sounds like a Freudian phone!

Anyway, can you comment on the old style pcv routing?

Indeed.

I've taken a different tact by blending 50/50 5-20 & 5-30 (3 + 3 qts) of same brand synthetic...I agree that 5-20 is too light....This blend makes for a good overall compromise & balance, engine doesn't rattle. So far I'm very pleased with the results.

Just curious, it was interesting to see they flagged the copper as increasing; did they mention anything about the molybdenum? Not to alarm you but the moly increased by 50%. Aren't the piston rings made of moly? Is that just normal wear and within their expected range? Will you post your next report too?

I used Royal Purple that time, which has a boat load of moly. Yeah, I post every report I have done. I'm doing another one in about a month or so. I ran a second fill of Royal Purple 5w-30, and will try something else this time. I'm not sure if I will go lighter or heavier in oil weight. I think I'v seen every JK UOA on the internet, and they all seem to show unusually high copper wear. I'm not too concerned about any serious failure, but I am curious. IIRC, two components that often use copper are the bearings and cams. Considering how these engines often develop a noisy valvetrain, I would think it's possibly cam wear.

My JK is a 2008, but it has a 2010 short block in it due to a spun bearing under warranty. IIRC, most of the spun bearings we have heard of were all 07-08 models.
