So while browsing SEMA photos I came across Mopars Apache project again and noticed something about the way they have the tire carrier setup. They have the bottom joints rolled out a lot and this causes the carrier to shift upward. My questions are simple, is there any benefit to running the carrier this way as compared to having the joints all the equal length? Does this cause any added stress on the brackets or carrier itself being shifted this way? I have it setup with all the joints equal length it sits flat so to speak with the Jeep, but I only have a 37 x 12.50 on it now and shifting it up looks like it would actually add some extra ground clearance and added departure angle, I don't think I would do it as much as they did but maybe a little more than it is now. Would this damage or not be advisable do to the way the carrier is actually designed? I asking because you guys made it and would know the limits and strains on the components better than myself.
