Default 33" x 15's

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on 33x12.5x15's (with MB 72"s) and want to know what tire has the closest actual measurement to 33"? Alslo From what I read 15" wheels will fit with out rub correct? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the post!

Actual tire sizes vary the closest estimations for actual size can be found on tire manufacturer's websites in their sizes and specs charts. That said, don't worry too much about the actual diameter of your tires if you want to run a 33" tire, choose one that fits your driving style and driving conditions. This is more important than worrying about relatively small differences in size from one tire to another within a particular size.

Yes, the MB72 and other alloy wheels will fit your JK without hitting your brake calipers.

If you are looking for a true 33" tire mounted with the weight of the Jeep at street pressure you may want to look at 35" listed tires. For instance, my 35x12.50R15 BFG KM2's measure about 33.5" mounted. They're light, quiet, look aggressive and are reasonably cheap. They also handle rocks and mud well.

X2!!! Don't do this twice. My 33s measured 31.75 mounted. My 35s measure right at 34, but I've read that some measure 33.5... That's brand new, with them broken in a little you'll have your true 33s. For a small one I would do the bfgs or the wild peaks!!

Below is the link with all the 15" sizes the DuraTrac is offered in. The 33x12.50-15 size is the largest offered for 15" wheel applications.

Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires listed by size

Thanks for the info. I'm currently running MTR'S 37x12.5x17 with 5.13 gears. I want to save my 37's for offload only and get a daily driver set. I have a hilly commute and don't drive over 65mph. So I've narrowed my decision to 33's but I don't want to run in the problems with having my 33's measure out to 31's when they're new. I'm looking at the BFG AT, General Grabber AT2 and the Hankook Dynapro ATM (33x12.5x15). Which one of these is the truest to their stated height?
