Jeep & Greet
I'm thinking about organizing a basic monthly or quarterly weeknight event that would really be just a simple get-together at a pre-determined business (local Hamburger-Stand or Watering-Hole to-be-determined)... something like the time-honored classic hot-rod and bike-night style gatherings... (there is a bike-night at the Pit Stop on Jeff Hgwy on wednesday nights).
Jeep owners could park in a designated area to mingle and check-out each other's vehicles and modifications. This sort of environment would be a great way to meet other enthusiasts. We could possibly get some vendors and dealers to sponsor it and do Hot-Dogs & Sodas or some such.
Just wondering if anyone is interested in attending...
Any input or suggestions would be appreciated. Location suggestions? Also, anyone want to help organize?
Cheers!

Yea, definately interested. This was going to be part of what I wanted to get going, but I have been way to busy at work and dealing with some misc. other stuff lately, so I have been slacking on my organizational efforts. Not to mention spending far to much of my time driving on pavement.
I have several friends and family members that own and/or manage bars in the area. Perhaps I could get one of them to start an "official" Jeep/4x4 night complete with specials. There is also a bar in Harvey on 4th street on the West Bank in the family if there is an interest in doing one on the Wank. Would be pretty easy to get them to do some grilling or boiling on a regular basis for this type of event if we can bring a regular crowd.
Edited to add: The bars I can prob get us hooked up with the easiest would be: Waloo's Sportsbar on Clearview (in between West Metairie and West Napolean), probobly the best all around choice, they have a good food menu, love good excuses to grill or boil, and we can park in the grass in full view of Clearview and show off the rides and attract the random Jeepers who drive by. Bugsy's on Cleary decent parking depending on the day of the week/time, has the lot on securty cameras also, but food only if we set it up with them to grill or boil. The Bengal off of Clearview (not much parking, food only when grilling/boiling). Peggy Sue's on the Wank is the other spot that that I could set somethign up with pretty quick and easy.

I think Waloos is the best choice. I don't really care for the Bengal and the parking sucks, but a friend of mine owns it. Bugsy's is alright, jsut a neighborhood bar that my girlfriend basically manages. Peggy Sue's is alright, but the average age of the customers makes me feel like a teenager, and I'm about to turn 40, but my g/f's mom owns it.
I talked to the owner of Waloos about it today, and he is all for it. Probobly not going to do anything sepcial for us at first, but if we show we can bring a crowd he will start doing boils and drink specials in our honor.
I think we should pick a date a few weeks off, make up some cheapy flyers ASAP, and stick them on every Jeep we see between now and the first meet to make a strong first showing.

Good input...
As far as the venue is concerned, space is what it is about. We have no idea how many Jeeps could show up... it could be 5 or 50, either way the venue needs to have enough space to accommodate. I'll talk to the owner of the pit-stop, as they have outside bathrooms, a burger stand, an area for vendors, cones and staff to monitor the whole deal, garbage & recycle bottles too. Another thought is Zephyr field parking lot; huge parking area, but no drinking/bar...
I can print some cards where I work (nice four-color professional stuff) so we can do a pile of those and distribute. A 3.5x2 Business Card size would be good, because you can put them in your wallet and put them on windshields of jeeps you see. I can do flyers as well.
I might be getting too ambitious, but it would be a cool to approach some vendors; jeep dealers, tire companies, 4x4 parts and garages to see if they want to get involved and maybe have a raffle for giveaway parts/service?
The big thing is what day of the week? Everyone has their bad times... Weekdays on a Tuesday or Thursday night from 6 to 9 seems to be a sweet spot. Weekends could be bad because many of us could be out wheeling somewhere!

Thursdays would be best. Tuesdays and Wedndesdays are the traditional bike nights in the area, and I doubt I'm the only one who has a Jeep and a bike in the city.
I would not count on a huge turnout at first, and the Pit Stop is having issue holding onto it's bike night crowd right now (I have friends who are deeply involved in that whole deal too). I'm thinking we might not want to look to him to expand into 4x4's when he is already losing what was a "sure thing" crowd do to poor management.
Flyers- I like the business card sizes, and I was thinking some 1/4 sheet (to tired to figure out what size that is) size ones would be good too, a little bigger, more eye catching.
