Roll Over Accident Anza Borrego Springs

Wow...it's pretty clear that if she had turned driver when she started to tip it would have probably kept her from rolling. I have had that ingrained into my head for quite some time now...."turn into the fall, turn into the fall."

I think we could have made a game out of this video clip. How many things can you point out that is wrong with this hill descent gone wrong? How many people were in the fall line, just standing around waiting to be crushed by an out of control jeep? Not one person there had a clue? Amazing!!!

The thing that caught me was a lady saying... "Let me go get a cell signal!"
Rookie wheeler + Bad spotter + No seat belt + Not aired down + Sway bar connected + Spectators standing in the way + No additional form of communication = An enviroment I don't want to be around!
Very lucky lady! Especially, when you look at the "enviroment" she and her friends created.

I read the details of the video at the bottom of the screen on youtube. She was not disconnected and furthermore, did not have her seatbelt on. Her back was broken but she is healing fine and isnt paralyzed.
I'm not an experienced wheeler and very well could have been the person barrel rolling down the hill, but even for me it was painful to watch. She ignored the spotter at the very beginning and then obviously the spotter messed up. It also said on the comments below the video that the spotter admitted he made the mistake but then fell down and couldnt get back up in time to correct it.

Not likely to pull that stunt twice (or even once)without being the donor.
Better sign the card and let your family know your intentions before being so irresponsible.

You raise a great point Toad. Out of curiousity, are you aware of any courses (by Jeep or maybe some of the large vendors) that concentrate on teaching effective spotting? I know for most of us we learn to drive offroad through a gradual progression of trying different trails of increasing difficulty over many years. I suspect the same is true for spotters...just curious if there are any organized events designed to help teach proper (and safe) spotting techniques.

Spotting: Simple commands by ONE person (its not a team sport). Be VERY visible. If you're not sure, STOP. I cannot imagine being out that far from civilization and rolling like that. She is lucky that she was not ejected with no seatbelt. As often as things I have done in my JK make me pucker, being out with a knowledgeable group has brought me home in one piece.
I still remember the day TrailBud came up to the window one time while I teetered on a rock and asked "Is it paid for??.......... well then don't feel the need to try it and end up on your lid."
I don't think what he said actually had anything to do with my loan.
