I was thinking about coming up for a day. I've never been before so I'm not sure what day would be best, and where? Does anybody have any suggestions?

Friday is the main race and it starts at about sunrise. I usually recommend getting there the night before.

If you are just appearing for the day there are a few major spots that most people watch the race, Chocolate Thunder and Backdoor trails. Finding those spots is pretty easy since they are just off the dry lake bed and most people are in these two spots so a thousand vehicles are parked next to the trails. I also plan to take groups of people out to these spots and other further viewing locations if you meet at the JK-Forum camping site.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

That would be great, Rand. And, yes, you can cook; especially when it's bison!

Default Claiming our campsite

Is anyone planning on arriving during the day Wednesday (or earlier)? If someone can cordon off a large campsite near the back entrance to Hammertown like last year it would be really helpful.

I'll be out there Wednesday night, but the earlier the better!

BIG LOW, I'm not forsure yet on what day I will be coming out. It will either be saturday or sunday. What time and where will every one meet for the groups you plan on taking out?

Sorry y'all. I'm going to have to bow out of this one. The stars just aren't aligning for me. If I make it out at all it will only be for half a day on Friday to see the start of the race. I'd have to hit the road by noon though. Sorry I can't be there to help with the warriors again. Maybe next year.

I'll be flying out and landing in Ontario Thursday AM with my fiancé. First time at KOH, any tips for a Newb? We're grabbing a rental, is 4wd recommended for the property?
