Default 3.0 eco Diesel JK swap

I'm sure it's crossed a few people's minds but I couldn't find any discussion on it. Has anyone tried this yet or heard of all the obstacles trying to swap one out? I realize most will say "why when you can just buy it in a JL?" but the coolness factor intrigues me.

I think it would be a nightmare with all the emissions crap, plus the cost of diesel.

Fortunately I don't have to worry about emissions here, that's the only reason it would be somewhat appealing. I'm sure someone will eventually give it a try. Heck it's mind numbing how simple it is to LS and Hemi swap JK's now

Banks Power makes an Audi/VW 3.0 diesel kit that would probably be better as it is all designed to fit into a JK. Big $$$$ though.

You have a link to the kit, if it's possible to put a 3.0 Audi turbo diesel into a JK or JL with its 8sp trans I'll sell my built JK-LS in a min.
I have a A6 Audi with this motor 50k miles adv 35mpg hauling ass. 40mpg is doable cruzing 80mph.
Bulit proof motor and trans. More tq where its needed than any V8 gas motor.

Here is the article. Wouldn't be surprised if the EPA has come down on Banks as well simmilar what they did for some of the Hemi conversions. I have this same engine and 8 speed in an Audi Q5 and it is a balst to drive and it \travels 600 miles on a tank of diesel. 0-60 in 5.2 secs. This kil uses the 6L90 GM tranny so not sure how they control it as other guys use the GM 4 speed for hotrod control an no one to my knowledge have a separate controller for 6/8/10 speed autos. Not sure if this conversion is for any vehicle specific as they show it in a GMC pickup. Can't find the article now but there was a JK with one in when I first heard about it. I guess a call to Banks will sort that all out as the Audi/VW uses CANBus.
