Default worn out drivers seat

Just curious, has anyone had the outer seat bottom bolster wear through on their jeep? Mine did not too long ago, its an 08, and I understand that its fabric, and prob from the way i kind of climb and slide in and out of the seat, but just curious if anyone else has blown through their upholstery like that. I have a gaping hole ther now and the foam is poking out. I guess ill either have to get a new seat or do a cover. such a pain. Junk

I see a lot of factory seats and seat covers for sale on Craigslist.

I have an '08 as well and had issues w/ the drivers side bolster as well with less than 40K miles. At first thought it was the way I slide in and out, not to mention my fat ass. I took the seat out and had a buddy who is a professional upholster. After "peeling back the stock vinyl seat covering, the problem; at least on mine, was the metal seat frame that the foam sits on is a sharp metal edge that literally was cutting through the foam. He ground the sharp edge down, padded it as extra insurance, and glue the foam back together with contact cement. It has held up for the past 15K - 20K since the fix.

Really appreciate this post and the replies. I just noticed that mine is starting to wear out in the same area. No holes yet, but the fabric is starting to give, and just under the surface, it has started to roll and come apart (making lumps in the fabric). I think it will probably only be a matter of time before it has a hole in it like yours.

Mine is also an '08, and while I get that it's wear and tear (emphasis on tear, apparently), it seems a little premature to be wearing out this soon. Love everything else about the YES fabric except this.

My drivers seat was starting to wear and also has a small tear(not really a tear but more like the threads are coming undone) on the lower back rest. It was worse after putting on the lift because we started to "slide" more off the seat when we got out. Just put on some new seat covers and they look GREAT. Will have to see how they hold up!

Default My 08 seat

Just got my JK in February the driver seat was already in rough condition not only was the vinyl torn and cracked but a large part of the foam was missing. My poor baby was neglected at the dealership for a month with her top off when I took her in for an appointment for a known oil leak and expressed my concern when they told me they would keep her more then a few days. Needless to say the Colorado wiether was not kind to my already messed up seat. The DLR bought me a new foam and roll cage cover among some other things to make up for the neglect and I found a replacement apolstry vinyl on ebay for $150. Another issue i ran across was i could not losen the 4 bolts holding the seat in and had to do the repair in the Jeep ( would have been way better if I could have removed the seat).
looks pretty good now. I think the foam they bought is alittle thin but it is way better then it was
