Expressway for me and for Alex. I was lucky and only dinged my rear door rain gutter. It was a warning I took heed of. I was drving careful and still had trouble.

It's that one right side tree, about midway. Rig gets pitched towards it, at any speed. Tight area.

It might depend on which direction you are headed with the tip into tree. I hit over my left rear door in a very tight set of trees with a leaner on left, a left turn around it and a big stump on right that I had to flex over that tipped my into it. I was able to very carefully backout, move as far right as possible but not hit two tree on the right and just eek by over the stump shoulder. I think being a JKU made it harder as well as my total height as well. Alex whacked his when he slipped left on the top stair of the escalator object. There a so many places in there where it seems easy to slip and tip into trees. Much fun, but not a place I am going to worry about with a hard top anymore, just too many chances to whack it. A 2DR doesn't have quite as many close calls and lower rigs have the advantage in missing trees but must contend with ground clearance in places. Good driving skills needed by all on the tougher trails.

See you all Saturday

I kind of assumed it was something like that. It looks like on the map you can either take Upper Mainline or Expressway. Is that the case? For example, can we advise the weak at heart to go Upper Mainline and the adventurous to take Expressway? Then we all meet and continue on.... or am I just over thinking it and should just say "F it"?

It sucks I really wanted to go but I'm not willing to break my hardtop. May have to pass on this one mark. Call me chikin or whatever but it's safer that way: if you know what I mean.

FTR, I cracked my top because I was tired and distracted. I could have avoided damage

Jeff, you don't need to apologize to me. If you don't feel comfortable going then I am not going to force you. I just want you to experience NW wheeling cause it is a lot different then Arizona but we have plenty of summer for that. We'll do walker again I'm sure. We can plan a trip when the weather is better and we can go topless.

I'm assuming the difficulty is being blown out of proportion but I guess I'll find out on Saturday. I'll take pictures for you.

I would like to go out there with you all but with gas prices, have plans this weekend and me spend all my money on getting my classic mini back on the road so I don't have to drive the JK. Maybe one day when it gets warmer. I have never taken my Jk off road, and never off roaded a manual before.

@ Grenadeacorn-

I just bought a soft top for the jeep today. But I am not willing to take it out and fuck it up either. This is about meeting people and having fun. My Rubi is stock and I Sure as hell have no interest in ripping it open on any "can opener" or whatever lies ahead. So if you want to come out, I will be happy to turn back with you if things get too serious.

There are bypasses on just about every trail at Walker. I wouldnt be too concerned about damaging your top. As mentioned, if you are careful you should be fine. If you are uncomfortable with a line, you can take the bypass.
