Default From an X to a Rubicon.....

Okay, so here is my story and I am sticking to it.....

I went to my dealer yesterday to see about pricing and availability of changing to a Dana 44 front with Tru-Lock and a Tru-Lock assy for my Dana 44 for the rear. They are available for about $3500 delivered, not including installation. Now, we all know we can do better with a little work so I am working the parts guy and the manager for a really good price. I don't really need them yet, I was thinking the JK would be better if I had them in case.

So anyway, the DC truck pulls up and there is a Rubicon on the truck an the manager says, "Why not trade up to a Rubicon."

First off it is not a hard top and I really like my X.

But, the more we talked the more I wanted to see what they would do for me.

To make this a little shorter, blah-blah-blah, I said after about an hour of dickering, "Give me an out the door price on the Rubicon, swaping out my hard top for the soft top and moving my 33" tires and rims to the Rubicon.

Now look here, I know and you know dealers don't like to do strange stuff so I figure they will come in with a number that is totally nuts.....

The owner of the dealership comes over this time and sits down next to me and says," We will make the changes for nothing and knock $2000 off of the sticker and give you $24,000 for your vehicle.

Before I can get out of shock he says, "I also want to give you a complete detail for as long as you own your Jeep, every 6 months...."

CRAP !!!!

Now I have a Rubicon in my driveway and pictures are to follow since they are swapping everything over today.

You did good!!! Congrats...

But here is a prime example for those that are eyeballing the Rubicon, but "settle" for something else. If you want something more than an X model, then do it the first time. Lesson learned, because not everyone is going to be as lucky as this guy was.

Oh trust me guys when I say I wasn't going in there to buy a Rubicon.

I was just looking at parts to maybe add to help my X in 4 low. You know, like a locker for the rear and a 44 for the front, like Quadratec did.

I really just asked about the Rubicon since it was there......

I know I had my gardian angel there and my lucky rabbits foot and my horse shoe (though it is difficult to move with it up there)......

I still don't know why they gave me such a deal. I have been looking at the paperwork just to make sure I didn't miss something.

Well, I have my parts now. They are just in one piece, a Rubicon.

Thanks,
