Hello, everyone. I've been wanting a Wrangler for 20 years or more, and I've just now been able to get one. I bought a 2008 Wrangler X that was crappy enough to fit my budget. I'm extremely excited about it, but apprehensive, as well. I know X were kind of a budget model, and I'm hoping the one I bought isn't too far gone. What issues should I be looking out for at 198k miles (other than everything lol)?
I need to do work on the suspension, but I'm really not sure if a lift kit has been added. I don't see any shims on the coil springs, but I also havent really had a chance to crawl under it yet. How tall do these guys usually sit?

Welcome to JKF. Congrats on getting your Jeep. The 3.8L engine has proven to be dependable, sturdy. with that mileage; get the owner's manual and follow the maintenance schedule for your inspections and maintenance work. If you have pictures post up some photos.

Hey!I'm new, too!Congrats on finally snagging that Wrangler that's huge! Totally get the mix of excitement and nerves though, especially with an older model like yours.
At 198k miles, you'll wanna keep an eye out for the usual suspects: rust, leaks, and engine stuff. And since you're planning on working on the suspension, give it a good once-over for any signs of wear or damage.
As for the lift kit situation, it's tough to tell without getting underneath, but Wranglers do sit pretty tall from the factory.
