Hello everyone, decided to pull the trigger on this 2011 JKU. It's very basic, manual everything including windows etc. I'm just trying to figure out a few things if anyone can help:

It's riding on 35s so I think it's been lifted, but I'm struggling to see how they did it. I've seen measurements for the stock springs and shocks, as well as the bump stop gaps and I'm getting stock numbers there. Did they somehow just lift the body and if so what do I look for to see how much lift there is? Or is it somehow possible to fit 35s without a lift?

Second, the top was missing some bolts so I bought replacements, however the very rear ones don't seem to have any nut for the bolts to go into. The others in the rear hatch area have sliding nuts that can adapt to the bolts, are the back ones missing or do they have a different setup?

Third, do people usually run fender liners of some sort? I'm thinking I'll want front ones at least to keep junk out of the engine bay.

Anyhow, I'm excited to get into the Jeep lifestyle and have some fun with it! Oh, and does anyone happen to know which fender flares these are? The right rear is broken.

Welcome looking Good and you have a great playground. NOW.. it looks like aftermarket fenders which will give more clearance.. I have run 35s on a DD without and with 2" spacers but did not do Off road .. Fender liners Y or N .. we run cut back OEM liners with A/M fenders; would not do without them here in PA (winters). If there is a body lift, it would have "pucks" between the body and frame where they bolt together. The Nuts for the torx bolts are slider type under the body rail.. A BIG question is What GEAR Ratio is in the JKU? Wtih the 3.8L and 35s it will definitely effect performance (sluggish&slow) but can be tolerable in 4Low crawling.

Thanks for the reply.

Ah yes--the gears. It only has the 3.21 gears which is quite noticeable on the freeway over hills, but I won't be doing much freeway driving, that's what my other cars are for. I'll probably be looking to do a re-gear at some point, up to something like 4.56.

I'll look for the pucks like you mentioned--but my understanding is a body-only lift requires all kinds of extensions for brake lines, other hoses etc which I'm not seeing either correct?. Is there any reference point to measure from the ground? IE: with 35s and no other lift some point on the frame/body should be xx inches?

I know of NONE on the measurements.. People have used Hockey Pucks (drill the center) and put them in inlieu of buying kits.. if it is on yours you will see a space between the frame and the body in the amount of the "puck". Look at this .. NO lift, 35/11.50 Toyo OC AT III, stock fenders..

Looks like you followed through with that purchase you were considering previously. Based on that rear corner picture and the gap between rear bumper and body, I'd say there IS NOT a body lift on it. Look for spacer pucks on top of the coils, and if none, then measure and compare vs. factory lift height pics that should pop up fast with quick google image search of "JK factory lift height".

As you see for the rear bolts, there is a sliding component that goes under the tub rail, 3 on each side. I think a lot of times that rear-most one on each side kinda falls out due to how the tub rail is designed back there allowing them to be inserted in and taken out. Believe this is what you are talking about -

Oh, and I think those are Bushwhacker fender flares, though if they are there should be a small badge on the rear driver's side flare. Should you want to consider it, I have a brand new set of knock off plastic flares, NIB, that look just like that. Neighbor gave them to me for helping them with a jeep they sold (they ordered and didn't install before selling the jeep). I'm dead tired of looking at the big box in my garage and I go fenderless myself. Shipping a box of that size to your zip code is probably around $110-120 with FedEx. I'd be fine sending them to you simply for the cost of shipping should you care to consider it. I'd only ask that you stick around this forum . PM me if you're interested. NBD either way though. I think they paid $220 for those originally, so we're not talking high dollar thing, but better than what is on that jeep currently.

Yep this is the one I was considering earlier--it does have a few small issues but the price was great.

And yes I think I'm missing the retainer nuts at the very rear of the hatch area, I'll have to pick up a couple of those.

As for the lift, I did snap a pic right up at the front bumper. There is a spacer in there but I'm not sure if it comes that way from the factory. See what y'all think. The body at the very rear doesn't touch the rear bumper, there's maybe an inch gap there.

And yes I'd consider those fender flares you have if they would stick out as far as these ones I have--the cops around here get testy if the tires aren't mostly covered by the fenders. My zip is 84720 if you want to check on shipping and go from there. I'm not going anywhere. Yes I'm new to this forum but there are other car forums I've been on for 15+ years.

That appears to be a factory body mount. It should be ~1" if you measure. Your gap at the rear is normal too. If there is no puck on top of the coil then it likely has aftermarket coils.

I just measured those flares. The front looks to be ~7.25" wide and the rear is 5" wide. I'm almost positive this is exactly what they are -

Like I said, nothing fancy, but also not all shredded and discolored. It looks like ~$105 +/- using FedEx's calculator. They are usually pretty close to that once you get to the store to actually ship it, though it could be a few bucks off.

Now that I look closely at the pics on that website, they might be a little narrow for you. No big deal either way, just an option.

Well it looks like it may not be lifted at all then. I'm getting stock measurements at the coils and shocks. Of course, adding 35s gives it about 1.5" but I thought it may be more than that.

@resharp001 I'll have to think on those fender flares. The ones I currently have are about 10" wide in front and about 5.5" in the back, so those may not give me the coverage I want. With 12" wide tires and -12 offset wheels they stick out quite a bit.
