New member from Upstate New York - JK Introduction
How's it going guys? I've been trolling the various forums for about a year now gathering information and learning as much as I could since I'm a proud 'new' JK owner. My father had an '89 Comanche and an old, beat up CJ so I guess you could say Jeeps have been in my blood since I was a child!
With that being said, here's my '11 JKU. Initially I wanted to keep things simple and go with a small 2.5" lift and some 35" Duratracs, but that was short lived. I ended going with a 3.5" Rock Krawler X-Factor lift. After installing the lift and literally setting the JK down, I decided the tires were much too small.
Here's my current parts list:
-JCR Full-width Pre-runner Vanguard Front Bumper
-Smittybuilt XRC 12,000 winch with synthetic line
-ACE Sliders
-JCR Mid-width Crusader rear bumper w/Adventure Tire Carrier (not pictured)
-Level 8 ZX Wheels with rim guards
-40"x13.5"x17" Pro Comp MT2's
-Rugged Ridge Hurrican Flat Fenders (Not pictured)
-Rugged Ridge Snorkel
-Rugged Ridge Performance Vented Hood
-Rock Krawler 3.5" X-Factor Lift
-Rock Krawler 2.0 RRD Shocks
-Rock Krawler HD Tie Rod, HD Drag Link, and High Steer Kit
-Synergy Ball joints
-Energy sway bar bushings
-Upraded C's and tower gussets
-Etc.....
I'm sure I'm missing some stuff, but that just about covers it. I'm waiting on the hood and flares to be painted then it should all be completed.
Initially I had no intentions of going with such a large tire, especially since I know my Dana 30 will implode eventually, but when I saw how small the Duratracs looked, I had to make a switch. I was going to go with 37's, but as my good friends and extremely knowledgeable Jeep friends told me, "at this point, go with the 40's. The amount of stress will be the same and when it breaks, you can upgrade." I should mention they are essentially doing the build for me since my time has been really limited. Luckily they have been building Jeeps for 30 years.
When the time comes, I'll either being going with a Pro Rock 44, or built Rubi Dana 44. In all honestly most of my time will be spent on the pavement, but I want the JK to be built as it was intended to be used - on the trails. So when it breaks, I'll be ready to bullet proof the drivetrain and lose the "Mall Cruiser" tag, but for now, I'll enjoy her the way she is.
Thanks for the great forum and information. I look forward to meeting you guys and learning a lot more.

I'm actually in Montgomery. Roughly 1.5 hours south of Albany.
I notice you're from Saratoga. I graduated from Siena and spent a lot of time up that way! Definitely had a few rough nights out on the town. Haha

Thanks for the welcome! You're a true "upstater."
My girlfriend and I spend a lot of time in Lake Placid and go white water rafting in North Creek every spring. I love it up there. I plan to buy a camp up there some day, but first, I need to finish the JK!
