New Member, and Someday a New JK Owner
I've wanted a Wrangler since I could remember, and I've lusted after the Unlimiteds since they came out. I have no idea when I will be purchasing a Jeep, but it will definitely be my next vehicle.
I owned an Xterra for 10 years, and put 180k miles on it, building it up along the way. I've regretted selling it, but I do not miss the lack of aftermarket off-road support and the limitations of IFS. I do miss going out in the mountains, and exploring the back roads of America. This vehicle introduced me to off-roading, and that will never fully leave me as a passion.
I now drive a BMW 330i, and while it's an incredible car and a blast to drive, it's just not my ideal vehicle. Plus, now that we have a baby, it's a bit small for family life.
My plan is to buy a JKU Rubicon, 6-speed, hardtop and slowly add to it as my trips dictate. This will definitely be an Expedition, rather than Rock-Crawl, build-up. No crazy lifts, no over-the-top tires, just practical, useful, capable additions that get me and my family to the middle of nowhere and back. I've enjoyed exploring this site and look forward to learning from you folks, and maybe someday getting to contribute my own advice!

Welcome to the forum future Jeeper! Beware...it's a sickness.
You'll want to lift and get larger tires when you get it, though. Hidden Falls is right around the corner from you and you really can't pass up heading out there for a day of fun.
Really dig the Xterra. My wife and I had 3: an '04, an '08 Off-Road w/ 2.5" Calmini leveling kit, 33" Mickey Thompson Baja ATZs, Shrockworks sliders and rear bumper w/ tire carrier, and the a '10 Off-Road that had the same set-up as the '08. Finally got rid of the '10 in September of last year and I swear I saw it in College Station about 3 months ago, still rocking the same stuff I did, but also with a Shrockworks front bumper, too. I do miss it some, but it didn't hold a candle in the wind to my Jeep.
Nice Bimmer, too, BTW. As far as cars go....nothing better than German Engineering. I traded in an '08 VW R32 for my Jeep. Lowered 1.5" on HPA coilovers, Modshack intake w/ ram air duct, Blue Flame exhaust (only one in the country) and some VAGCOM tweaks. I really miss that car!
When you finally do get into a Jeep....be sure to post up some pics.

Thanks, y'all.
Yellowfin, I was somewhat tempted to start over with another Xterra like yours, but in the end, I knew I'd be happier with the JK.
I just found out we might have another company-wide paycut later this year, so it may be a while before I can pull the trigger. Good times.

Welcome to the JK-Forum and as you can see there are a lot of stories that start out like yours! It's really good to search around the forum and ask questions so you know what to look for and how to build your jeep up. I can tell you that plenty of the 85K members would have done things differently if they knew then what they know now!
