Welcome to JKF. Since you are not the main driver of this jeep, and since I suspect we might be talking about a teenage son, I would really stress to him that if he ever feels anything that didn't "seem right" while driving to let you know so you can look at it or research it. These things are great vehicles, but they are also a bit different than others on the road. Worn steering components, ball joints and track bars specifically, can lead to potentially fatal issues on the road. Having several drivers in my family, and being the one that keeps up with all the maintenance, I know how spouses and kids are when they comment on something and when you ask when that started they say "oh, it's been doing this for a while".
Anyhow, just my word of caution since it's your son's vehicle. There are several members on the board here that are willing to help if you can't find the answers you seek. Welcome to JKF!

I was hesitant to buy him a Jeep for the reasons you mentioned. I have taken it to a trusted shop so they could look it over before buying. The owner is a friend and said he would buy it for his son and thinks its in decent shape. Still I have the same concerns because things will break. I'll certainly use your advice and even drive it myself from time to time. Thank you
