New member from MA looking to return to the Jeep family
Hey everyone. Currently I don't own a Jeep but I have had one in the past. About 15 years ago I bought a stock YJ, and over the course of several years I built it up a bit as may people do. Its not just the jeeps and the off-roading that's great about the vehicles but the culture that goes with them. The first time I discovered the Jeep Wave I knew that there was something special about owning one.
I eventually sold it for various reasons. I've owned many cars since then but I've always wanted to return to the wrangler. Every time I see one drive by I still have the urge to wave. Now that I'm about ready to purchase a new vehicle the Unlimited is like a dream come true. With a wife and 2 small kids a 2 door wrangler just isn't practical, but the Unlimited has everything I need. My plan is to be in a Rubicon Unlimited by the end of the year. I'm really unsure if I should wait for the new pentastar motor to make its way into the wranglers or not.
Anyways, I look forward to officially joining the jeep family later this year.
P.S. Just a quick thanks to everyone who posts in these forums. I've spent a lot of time lurking reading about many different things as I imagine what I want to do for mods on my rig once I get it. There is an amazing wealth of knowledge here.

welcome! I live one town over from you in east bridgewater and I drive an Unlimited Rubi. There are a bunch of us around the area including another Unlimited Rubi in W. Bridgewater...and he has a Supercharger!.
Can't give you advice on when to buy. It always sounds nice to have the latest and greatest but I've done the owning of the first year of a redesign (my old 1998 Rodeo) and will never buy the first year again due to all the bugs that have to get worked out. While a lot of people complain about the current engine, I don't mind it. I didn't buy the Jeep to be a race car. I wanted a capable off-road vehicle and the JK is a TANK off-road!
You should check out the new england section on the forum here. Lots of good people sharing ideas and advice.
And when the time comes and you pull the trigger, there are some good clubs around our area that you could join which gives you access to some nice trails around the new englad area (a club is really the only way to wheel legally in MA with the exception of a few unmaintained roads). I ride with the South Shore Wheelers but I know there are other clubs like Ocean State Jeepsters, Cape Cod, etc... Lots of good options out there!
If you see a black Unlimited Rubi driving down the street with a winch on the front and a stubby bumper, give me a wave. even if you're not in a Jeep, I'll probably wave back.
By the way, my club does a bunch of meet and greets and usually hold our quarterly meetings down the street from you at Lorenzo's in Middleboro.

That's cool that you live in EB. My best friend lives in EB and my business is in Brockton, so I'm always driving through your area. If you see someone waving in a gray BWW X5, its me.
I've been looking into some clubs in the area. Do you have many members that have vehicles that are stock or close to stock? I certainly plan on doing a lift and lager tires at some point, but probably not right away. My X5 isn't exactly the best off road SUV, so I'll probably think about coming to a meet & greet once the JK is in the driveway. Thanks for the invite.

When the time comes, I'm sure whatever club you decide to join, there will be plenty of people willing to help get you up and running with mods! LOL! Seems there is an abundant amount of help whenever I need something done so it works out in my favor because I have very little skill with this stuff!
And good to know I'm not the only one in the area going from a luxury vehicle to a Wrangler. I traded in a 1 and a half year old Inifniti M35x for my Jeep. The dealer thought I was crazy. I don't miss it at all.
Send me a PM if you would like some info about South Shore Wheelers.
See you around!

My original idea was to buy a new loaded Grand Cherokee. I figured I could save a good 20k+ for a similarly optioned X5. Then I stated to think about the Unlimited. I figure If I use the same budget that I was going to spend on the GC I can get the Unlimited plus have some money left over for mods.
When I pull the trigger I'll be sure to get a hold of you.
