New JK Owner Looking For Experienced Advice
Picked up a 2010 Wrangler Sport last month. I have been reading a lot of the posts on here and the main thing I have learned is that I have a lot to learn. LOL! So, I come to you all for information, advice and opinions. It appears to me that my Jeep has spacers over the coils for lift, maybe 1.5". Don't know if the coils, shocks, and brake lines are stock or after market. I assume the track bars and control arms and such are stock. Tires are 35'. If I post some photos, would you folks see if you can help me determine what I have so I know what direction to go with any potential alterations. I am not looking to build a radical rock crawler, but something that can handle "some" of the more technical trails we have here.
Thanks in advance!

It looks like 2" spacers at top of front and rear springs and 2" shock extensions, on bottom of front shocks, and on top of rear shocks. Possibly new brake lines. Kind of looks like a real budget lift. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that, depending on what you all might recommend. I will post the rest of the pictures, only 5 of the 8 downloaded. I want some opinions on the wheel and tire combination. The tires are 35 12.50 15 and the wheels I guess are MB Racing.

Nice looking Jeep -- Suggest that a good start is to check the existing lift/tires for clearance (tires don't rub, drive shafts don't hit anything, brake lines don't rub or get taught, etc.). People come up with their own methods based on what they have available, but the bottom line is to get the axle's and steering to their extreme positions and simulate what will happen off-road.
Here's one quick and dirty method: To get the axle's crossed with all the weight on two diagonal wheels, I use a a pair of steel truck ramps placed on a slight downhill slope under diagonal wheels -- Drive up the ramps in low range, and if necessary, let some air out of the tires not on the ramps.

The shocks look like Rubicon shocks and the brake lines look aftermarket, most likely extended length. The springs are 17/59s which isn't bad. The front tallest, stiffest factory springs are 19 and the rear tallest, stiffest springs are 60. My Jeep (2 door) came with 14/56s for reference.

Do you know what gears it has or if it has been geared down for the 35" tires? If it has 3.21 or 3.73 gears and an auto trans it is likely pretty gutless. Even 4.11 gears and/or the manual transmission aren't ideal for the 35s, but you can get by. I would suggest you get a superchips flashpaq tuner no matter what gearing it has. I like the 87 performance tune since you can run regular fuel and it gives a good power boost. The superchip tuner can also correct your speedometer for the larger tires and change the shift points if you have an automatic trans. You might even find a used one on this forum for a good price.
I gearing change or other mods would be pricey, so I would not jump into a bunch of changes until you've had a chance to try it on the kind of trails you plan to run.

Thanks Mr. T! I have taken it over three trails just before the snow set in. One super easy, and two that were moderate. I have no complaints as far as performance there so far. HOWEVER, Clark, I do feel like it is a bit of a gutless wonder (3.73). I figured it was just because I was use to my Duramax Diesel w/egr & dpf deletes and an H&S tuner. Thanks for advice and I was actually thinking about a super charger until I priced them!!! The tuner is probably the way to go. Should I leave those spacers in on the coils and shocks or is it better to replace them with longer coils and longer shocks? Are those Rubicon shocks good? I am ok with the height of the lift, and the look of the Jeep. I am more about function than fashion. And stick around fella's, next I want some opinions on lockers.
