New Jeep Owner
Hi, all!
New and ignorant Jeep owner here. 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport JK with constant velocity joint(s). Everything stock, I think.
I have several questions.
What makes a JK a JK? Just the year of issue?
The stock wheels and tires are fine for daily commutes, but I want a set (and spare) for off-paved road use. I'll use the stock for commutes, then change out to the other set for when I need them.
Suggestions on wheels and tires? I'm not much into looks; I won't pay for appearance, function only. No need for extreme wheels and tires. Off road will be mostly in mud and sand, as I live on the Gulf Coast. Occasionally I will make a trip to places with real, live rock.
Suggestions on roof racks? My preference is for something that will allow me to separately remove the forward roof sections. However, this isn't a deal breaker. Also, I would prefer to add on a basket and I absolutely want to avoid any rack that mounts to the roof; it must mount to the body.
Suggestions on body rails, steps? My wife is vertically challenged. Enough said on that. I've seen some that lock up from the step position into the rail position, but they look pricey. Not sure I need that capability, anyway.
Thanks in advance!
Mike
