New Jeep

New Jeep
In late December, I traded in my '99 TJ Sport, which I had built into a Rubicon without knowing it at the time, and over the next eight years ran most of the better known trails on the west coast. In the process I did bad things to my old back, and by December '07, I needed a step ladder to get in and out of it.
So, in December I paid a visit to my local Jeep dealer and drove out with a four door Unlimited "X," auto tranny, rear locker, electronic sway bar disconnects,
hard top, 17" wheels/tires, Sirius radio, etc. It is white with a black hard top.
So far I have added a new front bumper, Warn 9000 lb winch, rock rails and a CB with a lot more to go. I enjoy the desert and spend most of my time in the Anza Borrego Desert between the months of October and April. Between 1999 and 2007, I also participated in 12 Jeep Jamborees. I enjoy the ride and room of the JK and the gas mileage is terrific when compared to my TJ which got 13 mpg on a really good day. The V6 engine seems a little weak and totally lacks low end torque. I suppose I'll get used to it. I really haven't done any difficult JK wheeling yet. I am happy to be a member of this board and look forward to meeting many of you in the days to come.
