Default New to the forum and the JKU

Hey all! I will be picking up my new-to-me 2016 JKU on Saturday. My only other Jeep experience was a '77 CJ-7 many moons ago. I'm looking forward to re-starting my Jeep journey and hope to learn as much as I can about the JKU and Jeeping in general. It will be my daily driver (except for the days I ride the Dyna) and grocery getter, so it will spend most of it's life on the pavement with only the occasional weekend spent hitting the trails of east TX. I already have an Amazon Jeep list put together, but if anyone has any good "essentials" that I can add to it, please don't hesitate to comment. I look forward to learning from all of you Jeep veterans out there and picking your brains as problems arise.

Regards!!
-Rob

Nice looking Jeep! That is a cool hardtop with the angled back... I also am a new JKU owner, although this is my first Jeep. What types of items are on your Amazon list? I think I'll be opting for these grab handles first...

I would HIGHLY recommend those grab handles over the para-cord option. The placement of the driver side handle on the A-pillar is a game changer for getting into and out of the seat.

My first purchase (other than the t-stat, coolant and brake pads I did this past weekend) is going to be a set of 4.56 gears from Yukon. The PO of my Jeep put 5.13s in the front and rear diffs. Unfortunately, I spend way more time on the pavement than I would like, so I need to drop it back down for better highway performance.

I have everything from exhaust, hood, lights, digital dash, interior trim pieces, storage options, etc in my Jeep list on Amazon.. I am only using it as a place to list what I want; I will go through the actual manufacturer when it comes time to purchase if that's an option. Yesterday I was really looking at exhaust options. I was torn between the Gibson Patriot Series 70-0001 and the Flowmaster Outlaw Series 817752. Pretty sure I'm going with Gibson, and when it's time to purchase, I'll go through Summit and take it out of my Jeep list on Amazon.
