New 2011 Sahara Unlimited
Hey all! I've been lurking for quite some time - even before I bought my Jeep (not car!)
I found that this site has the most relevant information and knowledgeable folks on the net. I did check many out. Eddie - Don't get a big head now!
The information gathered here helped me make the decision to by a new Jeep and determine the model and options that would best suit my needs.
I'm 48, male, originally from California (bay area) and settled here in Virginia - for now. I've retired from the Airforce - 10 years ago (geeze that long?) and currently a government contractor. Hired Gun? Not quite!
I have done quite a bit of off roading, but this is my first Jeep, though I've ridden in quite a few, even the old military ones, and was very surprised how well the J/K rides. It was LUST at first drive! I am an avid camper and explorer, but have taken care of the mud bog and rock climber in me years ago. That is not to say that I won't venture out into the mud and boulders some time - it just isn't my focus - and my build on my Jeep will reflect that. I live very close to the beach and OBX is a favorite spot - now I can even enjoy it in the winter!
Okay, so a bit about the new ride.
2011 JKU Sahara - Black in and out. 6 speed, 3.73 gears, fully loaded (no leather)
Have already put in Quadratec floor mats, tinted the front windows and installed window vent shades, check out my profile for full specs.
My planned updates are:
on-board air - already fab'd dual tire deflators/inflators with inline gauge
winch - already have tow strap and shackles
snorkel - good cold dry air (Rugged Ridge - been following that thread)
lift... not right away. Maybe when the tires need replacing.
Well, that's about it for now. I live in the Hampton Roads area in south east Virginia, so any of you locals give me a shout!
Todd
