Default Need help!

Hi everyone - I am a new member as of today and need your help! I am the proud owner of an 08 X 2 door. I bought it used with a lift in it. I am a girl and not mechanically inclined..... I have a torn boot on the front of drive shaft. I am having it repaired but the angle was at about 45Degrees going into transfer case.

I asked around and it was suggested that I get a transfer case lowering kit. The jeep has a 2.5 or 3 inch lift so I would like your opinions.....thank you so much! This only has 17,000 miles on it and I have never had it off road....she's too pretty..lol!!

Thanks again - Deb

Welcome aboard. The newer Jeeps (JK) are a different animal from the CJs, YJs, & TJs. A lowering TC is not needed. You need to get front adjustable control arms to dial in your caster/pinion angle. Getting an aftermarket drive shaft will eliminate your problem in the future. Did the boot tear from rubbing your transmission skid? Having adjustable track bar will help center your axle which in turn will give you the clearance from your DS if that was the cause. You can run the stock DS for a while but should look into getting an aftermarket one...

Howdy Deb. Normally you don't need to have all this done with JK's when the lift is 3" or less. My first thought was there was a more direct damage to the boot, and not necessarily an angle issue. Welcome aboard! Change the boot but i would still drive the DS and see what happens.
