Default Laugh at the new guy :)

I bought my first jeep, a 2007 Rescue Green JKUR, in December. I've provisionally named it Kermit. The transmission started to fail in our Honda Pilot, so I was able to convince the wife that it was time for an upgrade . She found one in her color. We had to get the 4 door for the kids. After she test drove it through a ditch she was hooked. I applaud the sales guy for his technique.

So, here comes the funny part, It is pretty snowy here in Northern Colorado right now. Last night I drove the boy and I over to Frederick, CO for some BBQ. It is a smallish town with a little downtown area. The only parking was parallel parking. I felt a little crunching when getting into the spot. I thought it was just snow and ice. When I came out, I noticed that it was a low curb, some kind of strange protected bike lane thing, which only existed in that one spot. I'm going to have to go back when the snow is gone and take a look to figure out what it was.

I tried pulling out like I would from a normal spot and I couldn't get over the icy cub in 2WD or 4 High. I had to switch into 4 Low, lock the axles, and pull up and out onto the sidewalk. I'm glad I talked her into the Rubicon

Our RAV4 or the old Pilot would be sitting there until the snow melted.

About the Jeep:
- It only had 65K miles when I bought it, so I'm lucky to get a low mileage rig.
- It came with Bestop Highrock bumpers, which I do not care for. The large flat area makes a nice drink holder while working on the rig, but they are huge and have no place for fog lights.
- I added ACE rock sliders for the kids / wife / me to use as a step.
- I put on a AEV 2.5" lift.
- I've changed the differential fluid and inspected the gears. Everything looks good. The rest of the fluids are getting changed when it warms a bit.
- I have a little wiggle in the steering, which appears to be the pitman arm side tie rod end on the drag link. I have the parts, just waiting for it to thaw out.
- There is a little ratcheting sound at high acceleration (relatively speaking for a Jeep), which I think is the rear drive shaft.

-Up next: Finish steering repair, figure out ratchet sound, Fire extinguisher, TeraFlex tire carrier, new wheels, 35" tires, winch.
