Default Hello from NoCal

Hello JK Forum,
I bought my 2011 JK Sport about a year ago. Did some of the easier stuff, shocks, lift, tires, s-pod, aux lights, etc...

My decision to start on some real mods was quickly followed by completely being overwhelmed. Where do I start? I am not made of money. My nose seems to be pointing me to the axles. To modify or to replace? That is the question

Sounds like this forum will be very helpful.

Thanks

What's up man. Bay area! What's your use of the jeep? Best to know that first. I would recommend searching topics on this forum and reading threads. Lots to learn!

Alameda boy, here! I'm pretty new to this forum, too but welcome for sure. I've been researching lots of threads here and have already picked up tons of really helpful info. However, my big question for now is this: Can anyone recommend anyplace to go off-road anywhere within an hour or so of the East Bay? I have a small place about an hour north of Truckee just off HWY 89, so I've got lots of ideas for when I'm up there. But just wondering if there's anyplace around here to have some fun without driving hours to get there? Thanks!

I'm hoping there are too. I've been wheelin now for a few years. Mostly all up in the cow mountain area. Prarie ohv up by sacro is a 4x4 park. No trails that I know of. I've been wanting to try hollister and I read of some places near santa cruz.

So I just did a bit more research and I found Frank Raines OHV Park near Patterson, CA. Google Maps shows its about a 1 hour and 45 min drive from Alameda. If you search it on YouTube, there's a few Jeep videos showing the terrain. Doesn't look like Moab or the Rubicon Trail, but still looks like fun! Hollister Hills SVRA and OHV Park looks pretty cool, too. Again, some good videos on YouTube. And it's almost the same drive time from the East Bay (Alameda at least)...about 1:45. As soon as I get an extra "free" day I'm gonna flip a coin and check one out, then the other my next free day. :-)

Welcome from socal! There are plenty of mods that can be done to your Jeep without breaking the bank! The best way to not be overwhelmed is decide what you are building your car for, then come up with a rough budget of what you want to spend!
