Mike, welcome to the forum. First off, look at the features each wrangler comes with and see what you like/need. When I bought mine I was clueless and just got something that looked good (and am happy still). As far as 2 vs 4 door, see what your needs are. If you're a single guy and don't tote a lot of gear, a 2 dr would be fine. I bought my 4 door since I had a kid on the way and it was my only way to get in a Jeep. Regardless of which model you get you'll be trail ready. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum and to the jeeping world. You are about to embark on great adventures and meet some of the best people in the world.

2 vs. 4 door...

2 door-
Pro:
nice and compact, great for the tight spaces that you may come across while off roading.
If seat is removed, easy to get to things in the back through the cabin.
IMO, looks more bad ass when lifted and mod'ed when compared to the 4 door.
Rear seat access SUCKs and is very uncomfortable. No real room for passengers.
Cons:
Very limited and small storage compartment for trail gear, especially if you leave the rear seat in. Which by the way is a PITA compared to the 4door when you want to remove it.
Rough ride on and off road compared to the 4 door.

4 door
Pro:
Nicer/smoother ride on and off road.
More storage space, even with back seat in.
Can camp in when back seat is removed.
Take passengers and they will be comfy. This can also be considered a con.
Can take most obstacles better than a two door. (YEAH I SAID IT!)
Cons:
Can sometimes not go where the two doors can. Thinking about this one a bit, over the last 5yrs, think there was two places we could go that the 4 doors couldn't. Then again, there were a couple of obstacles the 4 door just rolled over and we had issues.
Some upgrades a little more costly. This stands to reason as the four door is longer and takes more material.

For us the bottom line is this... if we had it to do over again, and its just the two of us, there would a four door in the garage instead of the two door.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I went shopping last weekend locally here, found a few, but not the one I am looking for, depending on the weather I will head up the sac/roseville/folsom areas and look there. I have decided to get a 4 door, would like a rubicon if I can find one in the color/price that I want.
