Default Greetings from SOCA

Hi,

Wow, great forum, nice people and great information.

A bit of history...
Growing up I always wanted a Jeep. My parents would not hear about it. (Figured I would roll it)
When I graduated collage I got a used 1995 YJ. It was a bouncy ride, and forget having a conversation if I was going faster than 50mph. While I drove it for 5 years.
In 2001 I moved to CA for the first time and bought a brand new TJ sport. For the most part it remained stock. That didn't stop me from taking on some trails. I eventually busted it's tail shaft on the Miller Jeep trail. And decided I should build it up. As my Job took me out of the country I sadly had to sell my TJ.

After a couple of years hiatus, I'm back driving a Jeep. It's a 2010 Unlimited White Rubicon.
Things have changed a bit in the Jeep world. My thoughts so far.

The good:
Being a family man the wife is happy that I got a four door car.
The JK drives smoother and quieter than my old Jeeps.
Stock lockers and disconnects need I say more.
The interior look like a Jeep unlike my TJ.

The bad: (nothing really bad)
Seems a little weak.
Steering is still loose.
Does a Jeep really need six gears?
Too much plastic and most of it feels cheap.

The ugly: (more like features that I have not made my mind about)
Traction control - I have not felt it.
Hill start assist - keep going back and forth on that one.

So if you are still reading, maybe you can help me decide what to spend my first $300 on.

CB, diff covers or GPS.

Anyways, looking forward on meeting some of you.

Welcome! I would go with the diff covers first if you are not going to lift it, but then again I wheel mine pretty hard so it depends on your needs/wants!
