Default Excited in the Windy City!

This is my first post on JK-Forum. I've been lurking around the past couple of months, reading posts and gathering information about the JK's. What a great site!

Well...tonight my wife and I ordered a black 2008 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon...needless to say we're both excited! We have a 2005 Tahoe coming off lease in June...and ever since the 4-door Unlimited was introduced last year...this is what my wife's been wanting to drive (me too). I just hope I allowed enough time for our new Rubi to get built...I think it's going to be close!?!?

We ordered every option available...4-speed auto, power conv. group, supp. front airbags, MyGIG, dual tops, remote start, trailer tow, engine block heater, and deep tinted windows.

Thanks to this site and all the fine looking Jeep JK's I've seen...I'm putting the shopping list together. Plans include a BDS 2.5" lift with Terra Grappler 285's and black Procomp wheels with simulated bead lock. I'll post pics as soon as I get our Jeep set up later this year.

Finally...if anybody knows of any good 4X4 shops in and around Chicago...with Jeep knowledge...that can help with the lift, wheels, tires and installation...post up and let me know. Thanks all!!

Hey welcome and congratulations from another Chicago JK owner. You will love the JK in the snow. With all of the snow we have had this year in Chicago you will love driving in it. I have a Dr 2007 Sahara. As for 4X4 shops, I am stock and cant help you there. You may want to pick up a few 4X4 magazines may have some adds for shops.

Thanks Fredk...will do. I've been buying issues of JP and 4X4 and Offroad magazines for the past several months in anticipation of our recent order of a Rubi. There are tons of quality mail order places to get the parts and tires/wheels from...Ijust cant seem to locate a shop around town to do the install.

HOWEVER...today I came accross a place after researching the BDS lifts...looks like they are a distributer for BDS. They're called Attitude Performance (www.attitudeperformance.com) and are in Arlington Heights, IL. I dont know much about these guys...but, Iwill be checking these guys out soon. Also...the dealer last night said they can do the lift install if I brought them the kit...just need to pay them an install fee (shop rates). I can get the tires and wheels mail order ad put them on myself.

If anybody knows or has had experience with Attitude...post up and let me know. Thanks again.

Merf,

Thanks...I went to Lary Roesch Chrysler/Jeep in Elmhurst/Bensenville. I went to three differnet dealers...Naperville, DuPage, and Roesch...and Roesch's sales person...Sandee...followed up and was generally interested in our business. The real key was that Sandee and my wife hit it off...done deal. I get a great deal through Chrysler due to my companies business relationship with Chrysler. I am part of an Affiliate program...also know as Friends and Family. I got the Rubi for 1% under invoice...and all I had to do was bring in the paperwork...easy deal for sure...wrapped up the deal in less than 60 minutes.

Merf,

Reading your profile...looks like you did some mods to your JK as well. Did you do that yourself...or did a shop do that for you?

I do all my mods myself , nothing major, just a BB w/ shocks. They only thing i would have a shop do is a gear install, if I were to do gears. Everything else i can handle myself.

If you are looking for tires, check out TD4L.com. They are in addison so you can do warehouse pickup and save some $$ on the shipping charges.

Hopefully you wont have to wait too long for it to get built. Then again you might fall into my situation. I ordered mine at the end of Jan. Not too long ago. I am getting a fairly big chunk of money(few grand) in the middle of March. Thats where my down payment is coming from. I just found out about an hour ago, that as of yesterday it was in paint. So there is a good chance that it will get delivered here in a week or two. So if it is shipped, I get to come in to work(I work in the service dept at the dealership), and see my new baby looking at me for almost a month till I can pick it up. Talk about fate kicking me in the groin. Oh well, I would rather have it this way, than have to wait almost 6 months like some of the other guys here.

Hello from Chicago --- I had my muffler and a procomp BB installed by Mike's Quick Stop in Alsip. They were wonderful all the way around and I'd recommend them to anyone. I can get you the exact adress if you'd like. 111th and just west of ridgeland ave. Anyway, after my they installed the BB I needed the bumpstops shortened (tried to do it myself and it was taking forever), so I stopped back by the shop to see what they'd charge (NAAPA quoted me $60). They put it back on the rack, cut the stops short in 5 minutes and sent me on way free of charge. The install for front and back BB was $200. They're not a 4x4 shop, but they can get the job done!
