In Central Jersey and looking for a Jeep? DO NOT BUY FROM AUTOLAND ON RT. 22
I purchased a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport S on Saturday from Autoland on rt.22 in Springfield New Jersey. It was my second trip to that dealership when I received a call that they can lower the price from 575$ 39 month lease they offered me. At the dealership me negotiated a price for $429 per month and 15,000 miles per year. Being happy with this price I signed the agreement for the lease and left the dealership. Over the weekend I did 280 miles and thoroughly enjoyed the vehicle. Late last night I recieved a call to come in and sign some extra paper work, I agreed and went to the dealership this morning. I sat down with the manager and he told me that the bank was closed on Saturday when they negotiated the price and that today my $429 monthly payment would be increased to $560 dollars. I told them that I would not pay that much for a lease on a jeep and without any explanation they told me to bring back the keys and that they would take the car back. I don't understand how a car was sold to me when the bank was closed in the first place. How can a dealership sell a car or negotiate a loan without the banks approval. The dealership was overall very sour about the whole transaction and did not handle it the correct way in my opinion. So I was a proud wrangler owner for a weekend and hopefully I'll get to go look at another one soon.

sales agreement fraud
My brother got caught in this type of scam when he made an outright purchase once. The dealer called a week later and said the same thing but they said they had been tying to get it pushed through another bank and needed another $3000 down to seal it. When he refused and demanded his trade back he was told it had been picked up by a wholesaler the morning before and the dealer ended up claiming to eat the 3000 bucks by adding it to his trade.
Did you ask what the extra paperwork was for before returning? My first question would be what paperwork and why then I'd decide whether I want to go back today or if I'm "busy enough" that saturday afternoon is more appropriate. I have no idea what the legal issues would be in this case but if it happens to me I will be hanging onto that car as long as possible before giving it back just to be a prick.

DO NOT buy from Baker Jeep in Princeton. HORRIBLE in every sense of the word. Feel free to message me and I'll send you the 5 page letter to them and the 2 page letter that went with it to Jeep. Still nothing resolved. Horrific.

Jeeps in NJ
If it helps, I live in Central Jersey and traveled down to Lumberton, NJ to buy mine there. I couldn't have been happier with the deal. No typical dealer BS. I had shopped around with about four dealerships all giving me BS deals until I found this one. They also host a NJ Jeep club, so they are "Jeeper Friendly" I dealt with Mike G. I don't know what the rules are for endorsements here, but you should be able to figure out the dealership from the city. Good Luck.

After a terrible experience with Freehold Jeep, I went to Dick Greenfield in Lawrenceville, NJ just outside of Princeton on route 1, and they were so easy to deal with. Pretty much walked in, test drove exactly what I wanted, named my price, and walked out of there more than happy. Plus their service department is open 24 hours which is awesome for anyone who works during the day.

I go there for oil changes because I can drop mine off at 530am on my way in. My ONLY suggestion to anyone getting an oil change or service there is to DECLINE the car wash. First time they did it mine came out dirtier than when it came in. Looked like they washed it with a dirty brush. Asked them this last time to NOT wash it since I just did and even left a note on the dash. They ended up washing it! Came out horrific. It goes in a booth and they spray it and wash it with a brush. Black jeep+their free wash= my major cranky side coming out. Luckily they refunded my oil change and promised it wouldn't happen again but just a little tidbit for anyone going there.
