Default Austin Jeep noob!

Hi all, after wanting one for years, and having to suffer with Jeep envy because of two friends of mine, I finally went out and got a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport S, six-speed manual, in bright silver and a black hard top. Not too many frills, but I did get the Infinity speakers and the 3.73 diff, and had the dealer agree to throw in the trailer hitch. Already took it on a short road trip out to Canyon Lake and loved it. I'm a motorcyclist as well, so I was already used to the "wave". I guess I'm nearing middle age, since both of my methods of transportation are considered "toys" by many, hehe.

Now I'm fighting this bad case of GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I keep filling shopping carts and forcing myself not to press the Checkout button! Well, after I ordered a CB + mount kit plus a skid plate for my evap canister

Pictures to follow, I had to drop her off to get the trailer hitch installed this morning.

Already scored some Sahara steps as you see above, and installed my Cobra 75 WX ST main unit under the glove box as noted in another thread. Waiting for my cowl antenna mount, coax, and 2' firestik to show up. I'll be joining the local club for some beginner's courses in the next couple of weeks.

bought my jeep in nov 2011. spent alot of time on the forum and ordered an evap skid after reading all about how vulnerable they were. before it was common knowledge that the 12 came with them. i ended up putting it on anyway...

welcome to jeeps - i'm in CP

Heh, yeah. I found this out when I went under there to install the skid plate. Of course, the one that the 2012 comes with is really flimsy, I would expect it to protect from brush but probably not rocks. I went ahead and put the heavy Poison Spyder one on there

Thanks, I'm trying to avoid emptying my pockets too soon. But I'm goin to need mud tires, a little lift... oh no. The list goes on

Are you a member of the Austin Jeep Exclusive group? I just joined a week ago after having rock crawled in my buddy's Rubicon a few times. They have access to a lot of cool trails and ranches.lsuivelsuive

Welcome to JK-Forum.

Any of you guys wanting to do a road trip for Go Topless Day, a San Antonio based Jeep club is going to have a road run along the scenic River Road up to Canyon Lake. After that we will be heading to Salt Lick BBQ. If you are interested, post up and I'll provide more details.
