Another new kid from Arizona
Hello from east Phoenix valley.
Just bought my first Jeep, a 2012 Rubicon JK with only 56000 miles and lots of goodies, never been off road. A real cream puff except for the dreaded p0302 (cylinder 2 misfire) code which started the day after bringing it home. It is still under the 10 year extended warranty for left cylinder head. Thing is there are so many horror stories about dealer handling of this issue. I believe the warranty provides reimbursement for repairs done by a third party. Has anyone gone this route? What was your experience getting reimbursed?

I can't recall reading much about people getting factory warranty work covered by 3rd parties, and I read a good amount of threads. That does not mean much though. Warranty has never been top of mind with my jeep which is now 8.5 years old so I've never really looked into the details.

Thanks for the reply. As it turns out Chrysler has extended the warranty on the engine left side cylinder head which is a primary cause of the p0302 error code, but you knew that. I replaced all six spark plugs and coil packs as a first step. That did not solve the issue so. with finger crossed, it went into the local Jeep dealer who did a compression bleed down test. Cylinder 2 measured 65% loss and so the LH cylinder head was replaced no charge! WOW! My luck does not usually run that way but I came out a happy camper!
