Default 2013 JK Sport from Salt Lake City.

Hey guys. I've posted a few times already but thought I would come over here and throw out a formal introduction. I traded in my '07 Powerstroke last week for my Jeep. Its a 2013 JK Sport, black, 6 speed.I've been real pleased with it and have already gotten out to stretch its legs. For now its stock with some Rubi take off wheels and tires. I managed to pick them up a few days ago and love how they transformed the look of my rig. I only wish the TPM sensors would do their thing and not hollar at me. I met someone today who is going to take a look at them for me but I won't be able to do that until Tuesday. I was pretty sure the take offs still had the sensors in them but it appears they may not. If thats the case I'll have to take my stockers in next weekend for the switch a roo.

I'm about four hours from Moab so my build plans take that into consideration. This is my DD so everything I do to it has to behave well on the road. I'm stuck between a 2.5" and a 3" TeraFlex lift. I don't intend to go bigger than 35" tires so either lift will work. Regardless of which lift I choose I'll probably run these rubi tires until they wear out. I'm completely open with 3.21's so a locker in the rear, limited in the front, and probably 4.88's are also in the future. I'm still trying to figure out whether to do the diff upgrades first or do the lift. I'd be totally happy if I could find some Rubicon take off axles for a decent price as well.

All of this work is going to take plenty of time. If I decide on the lift first I hope to get that done before about May. I've got a lot of money to squirrel away for all this gear. That doesn't even count on the other skid protection and other little odds and ends I'd like.

Enough chat, pictures...

Poser Shot Wheeling in the Snow Storm (5 Mile Pass Area, Utah) I had so much fun out here today. The guys I went with were awesome and it was awesome to wheel in the snow. It was like getting fresh track snowboarding. You couldn't have gotten my stupid smile off my face while I was out there.

I know. I've been looking for Rubi take off rock sliders for my 2 door and can't find any. Any where I shake a stick sliders for the JKU's pop out but nothing for my 2 door.

Also, you have the best color Jeep has ever made as far as I am concerned. I initially was looking for a TJ for price reasons but kept getting hung up on the Cosmos blue. There was a Cosmos blue '12 out in Vernal I kept looking at but it was too far and too much money. I intended to buy a TJ but my JK was on the lot and they didn't want much more for it rather than the other one I was looking at. Seemed like a no brainer, but I was still sad that I bought a JK and it wasn't the perfect color.

Thanks, I love the Cosmos Blue.....pretty much all my Jeeps were in my opinion pretty nice semi rare colors. You cant go wrong with Black either though.....

Let me tell you, I had two TJs...and though i loved them, there is no comparison to the JK...once again in my opinion.....

I hope you have good luck with yours, and maybe i'll catch you on the trail sometime....

I really was a good time. I was itching to go back today after I shoveled 4 inches off the driveway last night and another 4 this morning. I was with some guys from UJC yesterday, Tyler Johnson was the one who organized the get together initially. I figure its just a matter of time before we meet up since I intend to keep wheeling and the guys I was with yesterday have been around the block a few times. I'm not a total noob to wheeling but I still have plenty to learn, the guys yesterday were pretty cool.

I have an '83 CJ7 sitting on my RV pad that runs really well but has open diffs and 2.71's. The inside is kind of a wreck too but whatever. When i was a teen my dad also had a CJ5 but we didn't take it out much. I learned to drive in it and wheeled it in the gravel pits out west off of U111. My dad is an accountant so he doesn't really know his way around a motor but that thing was fun to play with and is what got me interested in wheeling and Jeeps.

Lol. I will always have love for the cjs. My first car was an 85 cj7. I used to take if out to the rock quarry off of 111 when in highschool. I got stuck in the bottom because I couldn't afford new tires. I had to back up one side to get a running start. I think I hit 55 before I launched up the other side. I broke both front shock towers and cracked a couple rear leafs. Then on the way out drove over the train tracks and my motor mounts broke and I put the fan thru the radiator. There was also a fun little place off 104th and bangerter before the houses went in we used to play around in. Those were good times.
Can you even wheel in that quarry any more? It would be kinda fun to drive thru there in my jks without spinning a tire.

Yeah you can still get the your tires dirty over there. Right off 111 is where dirt bikers still go all the time. To get to hills you have to jump over the railroad tracks. I did a shake down run over there in the spring when I first got my CJ7. Everyone once in a while it seems like someone will go and try to block off the access but it doesn't really last too long. One of the first times I went out with my dads CJ5 after I had just got my license I went up to the pit. Back in the day we would enter the area off of 6200 south and drive south from the houses to the hills. I was exploring and messing around and decided I wanted to go over the tracks. Rather than find a good place to cross where the dirt had been built up I just tried to cross out in the open. I imagine I tried to go at an angle because otherwise I think I couldn't have just bumped over the top of it but it seems like I had a front and a rear tire "inside" the tracks. I was stuck pretty good. I kept thinking I could hear a train coming which made things worse but managed to get off the track after like 45 minutes. It scared the crap out of me.

Here is a pic of my brother wheeling the CJ5 in the gravel pit. I went down to southern california for college and when I came home for Thanksgiving I saw that the CJ5 was gone. I was pissed. I had big plans for that thing. It was a 1960-ish and had the an F-head motor. The motor had blow by and wasn't in fantastic shape but everything else was pretty good. There wasn't any rust and it wouldn't have taken much to get it back in tip top shape. Someone got a screamin' deal because my parents didn't realize what they had. I think they only sold it for like $500, they just wanted it out of the driveway and the spare parts and extra motor out of the garage.
