Both my rear adjustment knobs ripped off on the first wheeling trip. Now they're not adjustable anymore......and they're stuck on 10.

Rancho is maybe the only company I will bad mouth, and I know I sound a little over the top, but I have never had a positive experience with them. On the other hand, I'v had great experience with Bil's on my Chevy diesel 4x4. Just another opinion.
Back in the 80's there were not many other aftermarket shocks catering to the off road enthusiast other than Rancho. I still remember buying my first set on my 76 CJ-5 and I absolutely loved them. It was day and night difference over anything else you could buy at the time which was basically Monroe. I then continued to run their 5000 series on several other CJ's and YJ's and even 1 TJ and never had a problem What kind of bad experience did you have that was so bad with them back in the 80's?
And as far as customer service goes Rancho has always treated me great when I have any questions regarding any of their products. I know for a fact they will stand behind their products.

No need for multiple post for the same topic.

My old shocks were Bilstein 5100's, they rode great on and off road. Huge improvement from the crap Rough Country shocks I had a long while back. 5100's are awesome.

I believe the adjustment knobs are easy to replace, like $5 each or something close to that.

I currently have the Bilstein 5100's and do really love how they handle on and off road. However, I am at 2.5" and will eventually upgrade to 3.5". I got a great deal on some lightly used Rancho 9000's, but only got the 2 for the front. I plan buy the 2 for the rear when I'm ready.

I've talked to people that have used both. They are described as very similar, though many like that the Rancho are adjustable.

Then you probably can't go wrong either way. The ranchos will allow you to tune your ride to the firmness that you want, with the bilsteins you get what you get. That's why I would say rancho.

Also, check in the vendor display section and contact a few vendors in there about some deals. I may be wrong, but I think jeepaddons had a great price on a set of 4 of the rs9000's on their website. Pm the rep and I'm sure you'll get free shipping and maybe even more of a discount.

I have had the 9000XLs on an Excursion and I currently have 5100s on my Titan. I love the ride of both. I bought the 9000XLs for the Excursion because we towed a travel trailer and it helped with the ride to dial them in stiffer when we were towing.

I would have bought them for my Titan, but it has struts up front and the 5100 struts are adjustable to provide lift to take the rake out.

Both are great rides on the highway. I'm getting the 9000XLs for my JKU for the adjustability by they are easy to change and I think dialing them down to do some crawling is a great draw.

By the way, the Excursion is almost double the weight of a JKU so I figure if the ride and quality is there holding up that big beast it should be fine in my JKU.
